A Small Kindness

Making out a Last Will and Testament is a kindness we all can do for those who we will leave behind.  Being as specific as possible about who gets what will make the trauma suffered by the person you appoint to wind up your earthly affairs much easier emotionally.  Moreover, since the value of your non-financial and non-real estate assets is almost always entirely based in the items having been owned or used by the decedent, choosing who gets what prevents that value from being lost to the “default” rule that everything not specifically bequeathed gets sold and the money divided.

Make a New Year’s resolution to see a Lawyer and get your will done.  Everyone will sleep easier.
